Strawberry Lemonade Iced Tea

This recipe brings together two of summers favorite thirst quenching cold drinks-iced tea and
lemonade, with the tantalizing addition of plump red strawberries picked fresh from the field, or
you can use frozen strawberries if your time is limited and it’s more convenient.  Either one will
do, adding just that right kick of sweet and savory flavor along with the lemonade concentrate
and tea.
I’m adding a couple of tea variations in this recipe.
Both are delicious, but it’s up to your taste buds
and flavor preferences as far as which tea to use
as a base.
The first is

Strawberry Tea from                   made
with robust
Ceylon black tea, giving you a strong,
bright, yet fruity, mellow taste, w/ real strawberry
pieces and strawberry leaves creating a luscious,
sweet and fresh berry treat everyone will want, so
be sure to make enough!
The second version uses

Citron Green Tea from
-if you love the fresh taste of lemon
and lime and are leaning more toward the lemon-
ade flavor, this is your tea.  Using green tea rather
than black gives the recipe a more tangy, zesty,

fresh lemonade flavor.  When using green tea rather than black, the
iced tea will have a whole different flavor profile.
If you’ve never used green tea to make iced tea before, then this
is the perfect recipe to try it with because the flavors blend so well
together.  Green Citron Tea has a base of

 China green tea, with the
tangy flavor of lemon and lime.
The rest of the recipe remains the same no matter which tea you use.

                            Strawberry Lemonade Iced Tea
                            (Makes 1/2 gallon/8-8 oz. glasses)

                           Ingredients
5 – cups cold, fresh water
3 – tablespoons Strawberry Tea OR Green Citron Tea
1 – 12 oz. can frozen lemonade concentrate
3 – cups cold, fresh water to mix w/frozen lemonade concentrate
1 – 16 oz. pkg. frozen strawberries or 2 1/2 cups sliced fresh
strawberries
(if using fresh strawberries add 1/4 cup sugar)
(if using frozen strawberries partially thaw)
(Optional) fresh lemon slices and/or fresh whole strawberries for garnish

Directions
Heat 5 cups water to 190-200F
Add 3 tablespoons Strawberry Tea OR Green Citron Tea
to heated water and steep for 3 to 5 minutes.  After steep-
ing strain tea and discard leaves.

Let tea cool down a little before pouring into a gallon jar or pitcher, then refrigerate.

In blender add fresh strawberries and 1/4 cup sugar OR partially
thawed frozen strawberries, frozen lemonade concentrate, and
3 cups water and blend on medium-smooth.

Add blended strawberry-lemonade mixture to brewed tea in pitcher,
stir to mix well and return to refrigerator to thoroughly cool.

When ready to serve fill glass with ice, and (optional) add a slice of lemon and/or
sprinkle sugar over fresh, whole strawberries and add one to the rim of each glass as
garnishment.

Once you’ve tried one or both tea versions you may want to tweak
the recipe, using more or less tea, steeping less or more, adding
additional sweetener, etc., and as always making it your “cup of
tea.”
Enjoy.
